St. Augustine Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 14-7 performed a safety patrol on July 4, 2013 from 3pm till 11:30pm for the St. Augustine 4th of July fireworks. The patrol was lots of fun and the fireworks were spectacular. St. Augustine does an amazing job on their 4th of July firework display and thousands of people attend it every year.
On the spur of the moment we video'd the crowds of people lining the north side of the Matanzas River by the fort and got hundreds of waves and happy yells! The video quality is poor but the fun factor was high!
If you were there, see if you can spot yourself! Also check out the short video we took of the fireworks and even got some of the tall ship, El Galleon, in the video along with the bursts.
The effects of pollution in the world's oceans is devastating. One of our Coast Guard Auxiliary missions is to help educate people on how large a problem this is and the fact that it is a growing problem.
